Israel and the Surrender of the West

One of the world’s oldest stories is playing out before our eyes: The Jews are being scapegoated again.

By SHELBY STEELE

The most interesting voice in all the fallout surrounding the Gaza flotilla incident is that sanctimonious and meddling voice known as “world opinion.” At every turn “world opinion,” like a school marm, takes offense and condemns Israel for yet another infraction of the world’s moral sensibility. And this voice has achieved an international political legitimacy so that even the silliest condemnation of Israel is an opportunity for self-congratulation.

Rock bands now find moral imprimatur in canceling their summer tour stops in Israel (Elvis Costello, the Pixies, the Gorillaz, the Klaxons). A demonstrator at an anti-Israel rally in New York carries a sign depicting the skull and crossbones drawn over the word “Israel.” White House correspondent Helen Thomas, in one of the ugliest incarnations of this voice, calls on Jews to move back to Poland. And of course the United Nations and other international organizations smugly pass one condemnatory resolution after another against Israel while the Obama administration either joins in or demurs with a wink.

This is something new in the world, this almost complete segregation of Israel in the community of nations. And if Helen Thomas’s remarks were pathetic and ugly, didn’t they also point to the end game of this isolation effort: the nullification of Israel’s legitimacy as a nation? There is a chilling familiarity in all this. One of the world’s oldest stories is playing out before our eyes: The Jews are being scapegoated again.

“World opinion” labors mightily to make Israel look like South Africa looked in its apartheid era—a nation beyond the moral pale. And it projects onto Israel the same sin that made apartheid South Africa so untouchable: white supremacy. Somehow “world opinion” has moved away from the old 20th century view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a complicated territorial dispute between two long-suffering peoples. Today the world puts its thumb on the scale for the Palestinians by demonizing the stronger and whiter Israel as essentially a colonial power committed to the “occupation” of a beleaguered Third World people.

This is now—figuratively in some quarters and literally in others—the moral template through which Israel is seen. It doesn’t matter that much of the world may actually know better. This template has become propriety itself, a form of good manners, a political correctness. Thus it is good manners to be outraged at Israel’s blockade of Gaza, and it is bad manners to be outraged at Hamas’s recent attack on a school because it educated girls, or at the thousands of rockets Hamas has fired into Israeli towns—or even at the fact that Hamas is armed and funded by Iran. The world wants independent investigations of Israel, not of Hamas.

One reason for this is that the entire Western world has suffered from a deficit of moral authority for decades now. Today we in the West are reluctant to use our full military might in war lest we seem imperialistic; we hesitate to enforce our borders lest we seem racist; we are reluctant to ask for assimilation from new immigrants lest we seem xenophobic; and we are pained to give Western Civilization primacy in our educational curricula lest we seem supremacist. Today the West lives on the defensive, the very legitimacy of our modern societies requiring constant dissociation from the sins of the Western past—racism, economic exploitation, imperialism and so on.

When the Israeli commandos boarded that last boat in the flotilla and, after being attacked with metal rods, killed nine of their attackers, they were acting in a world without the moral authority to give them the benefit of the doubt. By appearances they were shock troopers from a largely white First World nation willing to slaughter even “peace activists” in order to enforce a blockade against the impoverished brown people of Gaza. Thus the irony: In the eyes of a morally compromised Western world, the Israelis looked like the Gestapo.

This, of course, is not the reality of modern Israel. Israel does not seek to oppress or occupy—and certainly not to annihilate—the Palestinians in the pursuit of some atavistic Jewish supremacy. But the merest echo of the shameful Western past is enough to chill support for Israel in the West.

The West also lacks the self-assurance to see the Palestinians accurately. Here again it is safer in the white West to see the Palestinians as they advertise themselves—as an “occupied” people denied sovereignty and simple human dignity by a white Western colonizer. The West is simply too vulnerable to the racist stigma to object to this “neo-colonial” characterization.

Our problem in the West is understandable. We don’t want to lose more moral authority than we already have. So we choose not to see certain things that are right in front of us. For example, we ignore that the Palestinians—and for that matter much of the Middle East—are driven to militancy and war not by legitimate complaints against Israel or the West but by an internalized sense of inferiority. If the Palestinians got everything they want—a sovereign nation and even, let’s say, a nuclear weapon—they would wake the next morning still hounded by a sense of inferiority. For better or for worse, modernity is now the measure of man.

And the quickest cover for inferiority is hatred. The problem is not me; it is them. And in my victimization I enjoy a moral and human grandiosity—no matter how smart and modern my enemy is, I have the innocence that defines victims. I may be poor but my hands are clean. Even my backwardness and poverty only reflect a moral superiority, while my enemy’s wealth proves his inhumanity.

In other words, my hatred is my self-esteem. This must have much to do with why Yasser Arafat rejected Ehud Barak’s famous Camp David offer of 2000 in which Israel offered more than 90% of what the Palestinians had demanded. To have accepted that offer would have been to forgo hatred as consolation and meaning. Thus it would have plunged the Palestinians—and by implication the broader Muslim world—into a confrontation with their inferiority relative to modernity. Arafat knew that without the Jews to hate an all-defining cohesion would leave the Muslim world. So he said no to peace.

And this recalcitrance in the Muslim world, this attraction to the consolations of hatred, is one of the world’s great problems today—whether in the suburbs of Paris and London, or in Kabul and Karachi, or in Queens, N.Y., and Gaza. The fervor for hatred as deliverance may not define the Muslim world, but it has become a drug that consoles elements of that world in the larger competition with the West. This is the problem we in the West have no easy solution to, and we scapegoat Israel—admonish it to behave better—so as not to feel helpless. We see our own vulnerability there.

Stats and Facts on Israeli Humanitarian Aid Transfers to Gaza
June 20, 2010

(THE ISRAEL PROJECT)

1. Humanitarian Aid

  • In 2009, more than 738,000 tons of food and supplies entered Gaza. Pictures in local newspapers show local markets aplenty with fruit, vegetables, cheese, spices, bread and meat to feed 1.4 million Gazans. The total amount of aid transferred from Israel to Gaza in 2009 increased by 180 percent, compared to the amount transferred 2008.[12]
  • From Jan – May 8, 2010, 230,690 tons of humanitarian aid was transferred from Israel into Gaza through the Israel-Gaza goods crossings. This included medical supplies, milk powder and baby food, meat, chicken, fish, grains, legumes, oil, flour, salt, sugar, fresh vegetables and dairy products as well as animal feed, hygiene products and clothes.[13]
  • At holiday times, Israel increases transfers. During the Muslim holy days of Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, Israel shipped some 11,000 head of cattle into Gaza.

 2. Maintaining Medical Aid for All in Need

The Medical Corridor:

  • In 2009 alone, 10,544 patients and their companions left the Gaza Strip for medical treatment in Israel. Moreover, there were 382 emergency evacuations from Gaza for medical purposes.
  • The Hadassah Medical Organization in Jerusalem donates $3 million in aid annually to treat Palestinians in Israel.
  • Following fears of a swine flu outbreak, three Israeli hospitals were assigned to treat cases in the Gaza Strip and 44,500 immunizations were transferred to the Strip.
  • Since 2005, Palestinians exploited medical care arrangements more than 20 times to carry out terror attacks.

Medical Equipment:

  • In 2009, some 4,883 tons of medical equipment and medicine were brought in.

  • In the first quarter of 2010, Israel shipped 152 trucks of medical supplies and equipment into Gaza.
  • In 2009, Israel coordinated the transfer of medical supplies for the disabled including wheelchairs, crutches and first aid kits. Other equipment shipped to Gaza includes heart-monitors, baby feeding tubes, dental equipment, medical books, ambulance emergency equipment, artificial limbs and infant sleeping bags.

4. Quality of Life in Gaza

  • Projected life expectancy in the Gaza Strip (2010) is 73.86, greater than Estonia, Malaysia, Jamaica and Bulgaria.
  • The infant mortality rate in Gaza is 17.71 per 1000, better than that of China, Jordan, Lebanon and Thailand.

Schoolchildren:

  • Israel transfers school equipment supplied by UNRWA including notebooks, school bags, writing implements and textbooks.
  • Israel is currently coordinating the transfer of 200,000 laptops for Gaza schoolchildren.
  • In the first quarter of 2010, Israel transferred 250 trucks with equipment for the UNWRA summer camp, including arts-and-crafts equipment, swimming pools, inflatable toys, ice cream machines, musical instruments, clothing, sports equipment.

3. Building for the Future: Infrastructure and Economic Aid

Building Materials:

  • While the import of cement and iron has been restricted into Gaza since these are used by the Hamas to cast rockets and bunkers, monitored imports of truckloads of cement, iron, and building supplies such as wood and windows are regularly coordinated with international parties. Already in the first quarter of 2010, 23 tons of iron and 25 tons of cement were transferred to the Gaza Strip.
  • On 13 May 2010, Israel allowed approximately 39 tons of building material into Gaza to help rebuild a damaged hospital. The construction material for al Quds hospital was transferred after safeguards in place and French assurances ensured that the construction material would not be diverted elsewhere.
  • On 24 May 2010, Israel opened Kerem crossing to 97 trucks loaded with aid and goods, including six trucks holding 250 tons of cement and one truck loaded with five tons of iron for projects executed and operated by UNRWA.

Electricity:

  • As noted by a UN report of May 2010, 120 Megawatts (over 70 percent) of the Strips’ electricity supply comes from the Israeli electric grid, while 17 MWs come from Egypt and 30 MWs are produced by the Gaza city power station. Since January 2010, there has been deterioration in the supply of electricity to the Gaza Strip since the Hamas regime is unwilling to purchase the fuel to run the Gaza City power station.
  • Throughout 2009, Israel transferred 41 trucks of equipment for the maintenance of Gaza’s electricity grid.
  • Israel facilitates the transfer of fuel through the border, and maintains that the diversion of fuel from domestic power generators to other uses is wholly a Hamas decision. Over 133 million liters of fuel entered Gaza from Israel over the last 18 months.

Sewage:

  • During the first quarter of 2010, the UN coordinated with Israel the transfer of equipment for UNWRA to upgrade the sewage pumping station. In 2009, 127 trucks containing more than 3,000 tons of hypochlorite entered the Gaza Strip for water purification purposes. Moreover, 48 trucks of equipment for improving the sanitation infrastructure led to a substantial reduction in the Beit Lahya facility’s waste levels.

 Economy:

  • Primary exports from Gaza are cut flowers and citrus, with trade partners being Israel, Egypt and the West Bank. During 2009, 7.5 million tons of flowers and 54 tons of strawberries were exported from Gaza with Israeli cooperation.
  • In 2009, 1.1 billion shekels (about $250 million) was transferred to the Gaza Strip for the ongoing activity of international organizations and to pay the salaries of Palestinian Authority workers.

Did We Not All Say, “Never Again?”
June 17, 2010

By ED KOCH
The Jerusalem Post Blogs

Readers of my commentaries know that I usually send one a week. Last week, however, I sent two because the Helen Thomas incident occurred after I had finished my regular weekly article, and I thought the Thomas affair required a response from me. I called for her to step down, which she did.

Occasionally, readers say that I write too much regarding the hostility directed toward Israel, particularly by the United Nations. My reply is this: shouldn’t I defend Israel when I believe it is being unfairly attacked day after day at the UN and throughout the world? Shouldn’t I defend Israel when it is undeniably mistreated by the President of the United States, who enlisted me in his campaign in 2008 to campaign for him in Jewish communities in Florida? Shouldn’t I defend Israel when I believe much of the anti-Israel invective is actually a manifestation of anti-Semitism, which is rising throughout the world?

I have been disappointed in President Obama’s actions towards Israel, and I have also been dismayed by the lengthy acquiescence of members of Congress to Obama’s actions, particularly Jewish members of Congress in both the House and Senate. When the members of both House and Senate finally spoke up and voiced their differences with the President – albeit through letters addressed to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – the President got the message. In total, 333 House members and 76 senators signed the protest letters.  I was surprised by the names of those who did not sign. Key among those missing signatures was that of John Kerry, former presidential candidate of the Democratic party who ran against George W. Bush in 2004 and lost by three million votes.

I was proud to support George W. Bush in that election, having said at the time of my endorsement that I didn’t agree with him on a single domestic issue. But I thought the issue of standing up to Islamic terrorism outweighed all other issues and on that issue, said I, Bush was far and away stronger than the Democratic candidate. I was right and have no regrets about supporting George W. Bush. At Bush’s request, I campaigned for him in Florida to try to persuade the elderly Jewish community to vote for him. I didn’t have much success, with many of the Jewish voters believing that FDR was still running, if only in spirit.

I went to Florida in 2008 for presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama to talk to those same Jewish communities urging them to vote for him. As I later told the Senator at the Alfred E. Smith dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, there was no need for me to campaign. I told him that before speaking to three meetings of Jewish voters, I asked how many supported John McCain and in each group of about 250 individuals, about six raised their hands. I asked how many had not made up their minds. Again, about six. Then asked how many were for Senator Barack Obama. And, so help me, on each occasion, all of the rest raised their hands for him.

Senator Obama received 78 percent of the votes of the Jewish community nationwide. The only group giving him a higher percentage was the African-American community.  Many Jewish leaders, myself included, have concluded that President Obama has reneged on his support for the security of Israel – a major priority for most American Jews and many Christians – and is shifting American foreign policy to favor the Muslim, and in particular, the Palestinian cause. It should come as no surprise that in response to a poll taken by Quinnipiac University asking, “Do you approve or disapprove of the way Barack Obama is handling the situation between Israel and the Palestinians?” 67 percent of Jews disapproved and 28 percent approved. That same poll showed support by Democrats for Israel was 46 percent and among Republicans, 70 percent. Did this shock me and many others? You bet.

Following the sending of the House and Senate letters to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the President appeared to be backpedaling, and in a letter to a major Jewish organization, assured the Jewish community that he was committed to Israel’s security.  Jewish leaders, seeking to end the rift and end their criticism of him on this issue, decided to take President Obama at his word.

However, this past week, the Weekly Standard stated that it “has learned that senior Obama administration officials have been telling foreign governments that the administration intends to support an effort next week at the United Nations to set up an independent commission, under UN auspices, to investigate Israel’s behavior in the Gaza flotilla incident.”

Israel has just announced the formation of a commission to investigate the blockade incident, which will include two non-Israelis. One, Lord Trimble from Northern Ireland, the other, retired Canadian Brigadier General Ken Watkin. If the Weekly Standard’s report is true, this will surely reawaken fears of Obama on the issue of US support for Israel.

I was requested by an e-mail writer to read the comments, published on February 8, 2010, of Pilar Rahola, a Spanish politician, journalist and activist. Spain today is one of the most hostile nations to Israel, probably because of its large Muslim population and economic contracts with the Muslim world. Ms. Rahola sums up her feelings with the following statement directed at those constantly assailing Israel. “Why, of all the world’s conflicts, only this one interests them? Why a tiny country which struggles to survive is criminalized? Why does the manipulated information triumph so easily? Why are all the people of Israel, reduced to a simple mass of murderous imperialists? Why is there no Palestinian guilt? Why is Arafat a hero and Sharon a monster? Finally, why when it is the only country in the world which is threatened with destruction, it is the only one that nobody considers a victim?”

Rahola then took on the “left” and its hostility to Israel, stating, “Today too, as yesterday, that left is hawking totalitarian ideologies, falls in love with dictators and, in its offensive against Israel, ignores the destruction of fundamental rights. It hates rabbis, but falls in love with imams; shouts against the Tsahal [Israeli Defense Forces], but applauds Hamas’ terrorists; weeps for the Palestinian victims, but scorns the Jewish victims, and when it is touched by Palestinian children, it does it only if it can blame the Israelis. It will never denounce the culture of hatred, or its preparation for murder. A year ago, at AIPAC’s conference in Washington, I asked the following questions: Why don’t we see demonstrations in Europe against the Islamic dictatorships? Why are there no demonstrations against the enslavement of millions of Muslim women? Why don’t they declare against the use of bomb-carrying children in the conflicts in which Islam is involved? Why is the left only obsessed with fighting against two of the most solid democracies of the planet, those which have suffered the bloodiest terrorist attacks, the United States and Israel?…Because the left no longer has any ideas, only slogans. It no longer defends rights, but prejudices. And the greatest prejudice of all, is the one it has against Israel. I accuse, then, in a formal manner: the main responsibility of the new anti-Semite hatred, disguised as anti-Zionism, comes from those who should have to defend freedom, solidarity and progress. Far from it, they defend despots, forget their victims and remain silent before medieval ideologies which aim at the destruction of free societies. The treason of the left is an authentic treason against modernity.”

Remember the words that came out of the era of the Nazis and their hatred for and murder of Jews? Those words “Never Again” were announced in every country after World War II. Let’s be totally honest. Those words today almost everywhere in the world are hollow and devoid of meaning.

Those who pride themselves on fairness and conscience, Christians and Jews, must rise up and be heard. Their protests must ring throughout the world. There is no time to waste.

Let me end with a final comment by Ms. Rahola: “I am not Jewish. Ideologically, I am left and by profession a journalist. Why am I not as anti-Israel as my colleagues? Because as a non-Jew, I have the historical responsibility to fight against Jewish hatred and currently against the hatred for their historic homeland, Israel. To fight against anti-Semitism is not the duty of the Jews, it is the duty of the non-Jews. As a journalist, it is my duty to search for the truth beyond prejudice, lies and manipulations. The truth about Israel is not told. As a person from the left who loves progress, I am obligated to defend liberty, culture, civic education for children, coexistence and the laws that the Tablets of the Covenant made into universal principles. Principles that Islamic fundamentalism systematically destroys. That is to say that as a non-Jew, journalist and lefty, I have a triple moral duty with Israel, because if Israel is destroyed, liberty, modernity and culture will be destroyed too. The struggle of Israel, even if the world doesn’t want to accept it, is the struggle of the world.”

Dear Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper:

While you are hosting the “G-20” Summit in Toronto, Shalom International will be rallying for Israel at Queens Park, 2P.M. on 6/27/10.

We are asking your consideration to advance Canada’s support for Israel at the G-20 Summit by offering the members the ‘truth’ about Gaza, which is not starving and the propaganda from Hamas that has produced a major new anti-semitism all over the world, besides calls for Israel’s elimination.

“This week’s assistance to Gaza, 6/6-12/10

Photo Evidence of ‘Myth of Siege of Gaza’

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu
The” myth of the siege of Gaza” has been exploded in a research report that quotes Arab sources that say “Gaza markets are saturated with goods.” The Washington Post reported last week that Gaza “pharmacies look as well-supplied as a typical Rite Aid.”
Reserve IDF officer Lt. Col. Jonathan HaLevi, a researcher for the Institute for Contemporary Affairs, wrote that Israel’s continuing supervised flow of humanitarian aide to Gaza also has helped the Gaza economy rebound.
‘Gaza is not cut off from the outside world,” he wrote, and added that the large supply of goods and merchandise, including fuel oil, that enters Gaza through smuggling tunnels and pipelines from Egypt has actually helped bring down the cost of gasoline and diesel fuel to half the price in Israel.
Claims by United Nations officials, reported without investigation by most mainstream media, have falsely promoted the image of a humanitarian crisis and a scarcity of foods and merchandise in Gaza, implying that Gaza Arabs share the plague of famine as in India and other countries.
HaLevi’s reported stated, “Recently, Rep. Ron Paul told Don Imus on the Fox Business Channel that Israel was “preventing food and medicine from going into Gaza. He said there are ‘people that are starving’ and closed with a vile suggestion that the situation of the Gazans was ‘almost like in concentration camps.'”
However, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton admitted to a Congressional committee last April, “The crossings are no longer completely closed…. A lot of what has been said was not permitted to cross is just not accurate.”
Janine Zacharia of the Washington Post reported last week, “If you walk down Gaza City’s main thoroughfare -Salah al-Din Street – grocery stores are stocked wall-too-wall with everything from fresh Israeli yogurts and hummus to Cocoa Puffs smuggled in from Egypt.” Smuggled goods are cheaper than the regular price.
The Bethlehem-based Ma’an news agency stated last February, “Gaza markets are saturated with goods.” Beaches are filled with vacationers as well (photot below).
The de facto Hamas government in Gaza also has received $5 billion in cold cash since it took over control of the area from the rival Fatah faction in a bloody militia war three years ago this month. Hamas also receives millions of dollars in direct aid from Arab countries as well from the United Nations and European Union, which until last November paid for the diesel fuel to run the Gaza power plant.
The French newspaper LeMonde last October quoted Bassem Khoury, minister of national economy for the Palestinian Authority, that Hamas has profited so much from the smuggling tunnel system and outside aid that it “doesn’t know what to do with its money. Taxpayers in Europe should know that as a result of this system their money ends up in Hamas’ pocket.”
HaLevi pointed out that the tunnel system not only supplies Hamas with more weapons it but also “serves such criminal purposes as drug running and trafficking in young women.” The Kuwaiti newspaper Awan last December reported on the phenomenon of “importing” minor girls from Egypt and selling them into prostitution in Gaza, supposedly for purposes of marriage or domestic work.
He said Hamas exploits the smuggling tunnels for “sending fighters for training in Iran and Syria, and for the import of advanced weapons systems, antiaircraft and anti-tank missiles), explosives, and ammunition.”
HaLevi maintained, “The position of the human rights organizations, which paint an exaggerated picture of the effects of the siege, is marred by a double standard. On the one hand, they argue vehemently that Israel is still an occupying power and must therefore see to the “security and welfare of the residents of Gaza”; yet on the other hand, the welfare and security of Gaza’s residents have been severely harmed by the Hamas regime, with its gradual imposition of Islamic law while violently suppressing the opposition.
“According to their logic, Israel is obligated to help an enemy entity that is attacking it. If this were true, the United States would have a duty to extend assistance to villages in Afghanistan controlled by the Taliban fighters who are attacking coalition forces.”
The flow of weapons into Gaza occasionally is stopped by Egyptian authorities who last May seized a large cache of weapons and explosives that were slated to be smuggled into Gaza from the Sinai. The weapons stockpile included 61 anti-aircraft missiles, 40 anti-tank mines, 15 standard mines, and 5 machine guns with ammunition. Last April 1, an Egyptian newspaper reported that security forces had seized 100 anti-aircraft missiles, 45 rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), and 40 explosive devices.

The Jews are a Peculiar People
June 15, 2010

The following letter was written by American philosopher Eric Hoffer, in May 1968, in the Los Angeles Times:

The Jews are a peculiar people: things permitted to other nations are forbidden to the Jews.

Other nations drive out thousands, even millions of people and there is no refugee problem.  Russia did it, Poland and Czechoslovakia did it.  Turkey threw out a million Greeks, and Algeria a million Frenchmen.  Indonesia threw out heaven knows how many Chinese–and no one says a word about refugees.  But in the case of Israel, the displaced Arabs have become eternal refugees.

Everyone insists that Israel must take back every single Arab. Arnold Toynbee calls the displacement of the Arabs a greater atrocity than any committed by the Nazis.
Other nations, when victorious on the battlefield, dictate peace terms.  But when Israel is victorious, it must sue for peace.  Everyone expects the Jews to be the only real Christians in this world.

Other nations when they are defeated survive and recover; but should Israel be defeated, it would be destroyed.

No commitment to the Jews by any government, including our own (American government), is worth the paper it is written on.  There is a cry of outrage all over the world when people die in Vietnam, or when two Negroes are executed in Rhodesia.  But when Hitler slaughtered Jews, no one remonstrated with him.

The Swedes, who are ready to break off diplomatic relations with American because of what we do in Vietnam, did not let out a peep when Hitler was slaughtering Jews.
They sent Hitler choice iron ore, and ball bearings, and serviced his troop trains to Norway.

The Jews are alone in the world.  If Israel survives, it will be solely because of Jewish efforts, and Jewish resources.  Yet, at this moment Israel is our (i.e. America’s) only reliable and unconditional ally. We can rely more on Israel than Israel can rely on us.  And one has only to imagine what would have happened last summer (i.e 1967) had the Arabs and their Russian backers won the war to realize how vital the survival of Israel is to American and the West in general.

I have a premonition that will not leave me; as it goes with Israel so will go with all of us.  Should Israel perish, the holocaust will be upon us.”

Below is how Obama, with Schultz’s silence about it all, helped screw Israel on the ‘Gaza Flotilla’ issue that gave Israel so much bad press and Obama’s desire to topple Netayahu in the process. That is the “J Street” position that Schultz also disgracefully supports

White House rejected Israeli intel, blocked use of anti-riot gear against flotilla

WASHINGTON —
President Barack Obama stopped Israel from using anti-riot gear to prevent a Turkish-sponsored flotilla from breaking the siege on the Gaza Strip.
http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/WTARC/2010/me_israel0503_06_08.asp

Diplomatic sources said the White House rejected Israeli intelligence assessments that the six-ship flotilla contained weapons and Islamist fighters trained to resist any boarding operation. The sources, privy to Israeli-U.S. government communications, said Obama and his leading aides pressed Israel against any act that would be deemed excessive force.

http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/WTARC/2010/me_israel0503_06_08.asp

“The White House demanded that Israel exercise extreme caution and restraint in any scenario,” a diplomatic source said.

http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/WTARC/2010/me_israel0503_06_08.asp

The Obama administration demands were relayed through Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak
and Intelligence Minister Dan Meridor, the sources said. They said Barak, who has sought advanced weapons from Washington, persuaded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree that the Israel Navy would not use anti-riot equipment, including tear gas, to stop the flotilla. http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/WTARC/2010/me_israel0503_06_08.asp

The sources said the Israeli intelligence community had informed the White House that the flotilla contained scores of Turks trained in weapons and hand-to-hand combat. They said the Turkish-flagged ship Marmara was believed to have contained weapons and components ordered by the Hamas regime in the Gaza Strip.

http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/WTARC/2010/me_israel0503_06_08.asp

In the end, Netanyahu approved a plan for the Israel Navy to board Marmara with commandos armed with paintball guns. The commandos were quickly overpowered by Turkish fighters until the Israeli commander ordered live fire, which killed nine passengers, eight of them Turks.

Obama, whose aides were said to have been in contact with the flotilla, did not condemn the Israeli naval interception. But within hours of the bloody clash, the president withdrew his invitation to Netanyahu to come to the White House.

The last thing the president wanted was to stand next to Netanyahu as
he defended this action and blasted Hamas and its supporters in the
West,” another source said.

The sources said Barak and Netanyahu decided on the details of the interception without consulting a seven-member security Cabinet committee. Later, Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Ya’alon, a former chief of staff, asserted that the naval operation had endangered the
commandos.

“The prime minister decided to settle everything with the defense minister,” Ya’alon was quoted as saying. “Netanyahu shouldn’t have left such fateful decisions to an irresponsible defense minister drunk with power.”

In wake of the clash, Obama has sought to ease tensions with Turkey. On June 2, Obama telephoned Prime Minister Recep Erdogan amid rising Islamist threats against Turkey’s Christian and Jewish communities. The following day, a Roman Catholic bishop was killed by an alleged Islamist.

“Obama told Erdogan ‘Don’t rock the boat too much. We’ll take care of business,'” another diplomatic source said. “It was a very friendly message.”

On June 4, the administration, which reinvited Netanyahu, demanded the easing of Israel’s
siege of the Gaza Strip. The White House said the United States
was working with Israel and the Palestinian Authority to “develop new procedures for delivering more goods and assistance to Gaza, while also increasing opportunity for the people of Gaza and preventing the importation of weapons.”

http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/WTARC/2010/me_israel0503_06_08.asp

“The current arrangements are unsustainable and must be changed,” White House spokesman Mike Hammer said. “For now, we call on all parties to join us in encouraging responsible decisions by all sides to avoid any unnecessary confrontations and to ensure the safety of all involved.”

Kunst slams Obama’s $400million to Arab terrorists, Schultz is silent about
June 11, 2010

Robert Kunst, independent candidate for Congress, Dist. 20, condemns Obama for even meeting with the architect of the 1972 Massacre of 11 Israeli athletes in Munich, Germany, let alone PA’s Abbas, sponoring the ‘Intifidas’ and responsible for thousands of other Jewish deaths.

Why did Obama treat Israel’s Netayahu like dirt recently and yesterday treats this criminal murderer as a welcome friend?

This is the same Abbas, whose Fatah was thrown out of Gaza by Hamas,
and the same Fatah fighting with Hamas and over 1000 lives lost
between these two terrorist groups, both committed to Israel’s
destruction and who Obama is catering to and siding with against
Israeli and American interests and security.

This is the same Abbas, who on August 9, 2009, in Bethlehem, stated he
didn’t just want East Jerusalem, Jewish for over 3000 yrs. and
millions of Jews were murdered for, but wanted ‘all of Jerusalem.’
Obama is playing right into these politics, when there is no one to
make peace with, with Fatah and Hamas both ready to kill all Israelis
and all Jews in this religious war. On this same date, Kunst’s Shalom
International www.defendjerusalem.net had 300 protesting Obama and Rahm Emanuel in Chicago’s Daley Plaza.
Shalom International has done 287 ralllies/events and 1192 media
interviews since Oct. 2007 on these issues and Schultz’s failures to
respond to any of it.

One year ago in Cairo, Egypt, Obama equated the “Holocaust” with
“Muslim Humiliation” while cowardly ignoring 5 Arab wars and 2
intifadas to kill all the Jews. Obama also failed to mention 900,000
Jews expelled from Arab countries and all their properties stolen.

While Israel took in these Jewish refugees, the Arabs have been waging
war since before 1929 and not until 1967, did they even mention having
their own state, which isn’t a Jewish state. The “2 State” insanity is
no different than Abbas is a man of peace. Phoney as Obama.

That Obama keeps attacking our 5000 yr. Covenant with G-d and siding
with Islam which is 3000 yrs. younger that Judiasm, is the problem
here on a major scale and promoting an increase in anti-semitism as a
result. Kunst, is a Jew who is running for Congress in an
international referendum on Obama, Hillary and Schultz’s anti-Israel
politics.

Obama appeases the very forces who danced in the streets after ‘9/11’,
sponsored by Saudi Arabia, Obama also bows down to.

Obama says it’s a ‘provocation’ for Israel to protect the burial place
of Abraham, the first Jew, Isaac and Jacob and their wives, buried in
property Abraham bought 3000 yrs. before Islam.

Obama wants the UN to run the Western Wall and all Jewish holy sights
and this from the same UN who has allowed 500,000 blacks in Darfur to
be killed in that genocide by Muslims and the UN doing hundreds of
anti-israel resolutions and siding with the Islamic Jihadists.

Obama’s pro-Muslim politics to cater and support the very forces
screaming ‘Death to Israel’ and ‘Death to America’ is why our enemies
see us as weak, and Obama keeps inviting America to be attacked.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is Obama’s face in Fla., now rejecting
Obama 60% to 40%.

Schultz is behind “J Street.” to divide Jerusalem. What kind of Jew would
divide Jerusalem and give the Nazis their #1 victory? Schultz would
sacrifice her own people to be the next Speaker of the House?

Kunst has suggested the answer isn’t more ‘land for peace’, a massive
failure since 1993, but federating West Bank Arabs with Jordan and
Gaza Arabs with Egypt. Only yesterday, Egypt opened passage from Gaza
for 3000, after the U.S. investment of $1/2billions to stop the
tunnels between Gaza and Egypt was stopped. Why not expand Gaza into
Sinai and make this their new state? Why take more biblical land from
the Jews that attacks the Jewish religion, Schultz keeps her mouth
shut about?

Obama has already given $900millions to the PA, and $20millions to
bring these Arabs to America, while planning a major economic package
for the Muslims, who won’t even spend the $trillions they get on oil
monies for their Arab PA people, they consider just a proxy to keep
warring on the Jews and Schultz is silent about all of it as Obama’s
puppet.

WHY IS OBAMA GIVING ANOTHER $400MILLIONS TO ABBAS, WHO HAS NOTHING TO
DO WITH HAMAS/GAZA OPERATONS? WHY IS THIS SCAM BEING SUPPORTED BY
SCHULTZ?

While Obama and the UN have allowed Iran to build it nuke, and
yesterday’s UN sactions on Iran are meaningless and Wasserman Schultz
supports, even Fidel Castro wrote that Israel and Iran are on a
nuclear confrontation course and Obama can’t be trusted on any of
this, as well as Wasserman Schultz bowing to everything Obama says and
does.

Kunst to Schultz: “Your statements on supporting Israel’s rights to
self-defense are meaningless, when you’ve kept your mouth shut about
so many anti-Israel attacks from Obama and gang you are apart of.”

Once elected to Congress, Kunst is committed to weekly rallies at the
White House to Keep Jerusalem and Israel United and also to really war
on Islamic Jihadists.

Kunst: “While the Right is worried about whether Obama is a socialist
or marxist, our worry is really that Obama is a jihadist and alligned
with America’s and Israel’s enemies.”

Yours in Shalom,

Bob Kunst

Be gone before someone drops a house on you! Helen Thomas
June 6, 2010

BAD WITCH!!!  It’s been a long time coming  for Jew-Bashing, Bias Reporter, Helen Thomas (American news service reporter) to be put out to pasture!

Hopefully this will mark the beginning of her retirement and final days as reporter and White House Press Corp member.

Excerpt from Village Voice Blog  Article By Joe Coscarelli, Sunday, Jun. 6 2010

Helen Thomas, Jew-Bashing Old Lady Press Staple, Dropped by Agency and On the Ropes

Helen Thomas voiced some controversial opinions on the state of Israel, offering that Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine” during an interview with RabbiLive.com at the Jewish Heritage Celebration last week. Since, the video has been making the rounds on YouTube across the political blogosphere. Thomas has now been dropped by Nine Speakers, the agency that represented her. Technology is constantly destroying the Olds.

Come Monday, she’s in big trouble.

Thomas apologized, but the chorus calling for her removal is growing. Politico reports:

DefendJerusalem’s Commentary

Several years ago in an interview with Lebanese MonthlyHelen Thomas is quoted saying “Being Lebanese is very much a part of my life“. If that is the case, maybe she should go back to Lebanon. Perhaps she could also take along Former US Secretary of State Madeline Albright as a companion.  I’m sure they will absolutely enjoy living out their lives in a country with no real tolerance for the practice of any religion other than Islam. They can pass the days reminiscing about the occasions they received their personal gift copies of the Holy Quran or have discussions on their understanding of the Arab world as it surely “is the cradle of all religions”

Some things must die in order for something else to grow. We are not saying that she herself should die; just that in her capacity as a reporter and WHPC member, her hateful, biased and anti-Semitic remarks should be silenced once and for all. Once she is removed from her seat in the WHPC, we are hoping it will be filled by a reporter that is objective, unbiased, fair and balanced.

Below are just a couple remarks made by Thomas.  View the  following  video footage to hear it in her own words.

Remember these people are occupied and it’s their land,” says Thomas. “It’s not German and it’s not Polish.

Where:   The White House

Time:      12:00 Noon

Respond to the global support for HAMAS TERRORISTS on Flotilla to Gaza that Israel stopped and is being condemned for defending itself.   The same as when Israel finally went after Hamas in Gaza to defend itself and got the Goldstone Report  instead.

Please get the word out against the anti-Israel propaganda and media dump. This is no time for silence.
